OBD2 Scanner ("the App") is a vehicle diagnostics application developed by Catalin Cazacu. This Privacy Policy explains what data the App accesses, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
✅ Your vehicle data and GPS routes are stored exclusively on your device and are never sent to any external server.
The App requests access to your device's precise location for the following purposes:
Location data is written to GPX files stored locally on your device (in the app's private storage). It is never transmitted to any server, cloud storage, or third party.
Background location access (when the app is minimized) is used only when the "Run in Background" option is explicitly enabled by the user in Settings.
The App uses Bluetooth to discover and connect to ELM327 OBD2 adapters paired with your Android device. Bluetooth is used exclusively for this purpose.
No Bluetooth device information (device names, MAC addresses) is transmitted externally or stored beyond the current session, with the exception of remembering the last connected adapter address to enable auto-reconnect — stored only on your device.
The App reads data from your vehicle's OBD-II port including:
All this data is stored in CSV log files on your device's external storage (SD card or internal storage). You can view, export, or delete these logs at any time from the Settings screen. No vehicle data is sent to external servers.
The App displays banner advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob may collect certain device information to serve relevant ads, including:
This data is collected and processed by Google in accordance with their privacy policy. You can opt out of personalized advertising at any time in your Android device settings: Settings → Privacy → Ads → Opt out of Ads Personalization.

All data stored by the App (OBD CSV logs, GPX trip files) is kept only on your device. You can delete all data at any time directly from the Settings screen within the App, or by uninstalling the App.
This App is not directed at children under the age of 13 and does not knowingly collect any personal information from children.
We may update this Privacy Policy occasionally. Any changes will be reflected on this page with an updated date. Continued use of the App after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
